This amazing piece is only found in Winnipeg Manitoba, Canada. It is known as Duck Bill selenite or red river selenite. Duckbill selenite is a rare and distinctive variety of gypsum famous for its unique sculptural form and deep, earthy tones. While standard white selenite is known for its ethereal "moon-like" glow, the Red River material is prized for its warm caramel, honey, or amber hues, caused by iron oxide and organic staining during its formation in clay beds.
